Electric Vehicle

RDVS was asked to support the development of an electric car for sale within the European region. Our task was to take the existing vehicle electrical system and design a solution to transform this into an electric vehicle solution using the manufacturers chosen battery and powertrain. This was complicated by the vehicle not having a CAN network.

We developed the following for this vehicle:

Low voltage harness set
CAN strategy / database
High Voltage architecture
Specifications for instrument cluster interface, battery interface, high voltage power distribution unit, high voltage heater control

Our sister company RDVC then developed the following components:

High voltage power distribution unit with CAN control, HV heater control, 1kW DC/DC converter for 12V battery charging, motor pre-charge control
High voltage cable set
CAN instrument cluster interface
Battery interface module with CAN gateway / HV contactor control
Modified low voltage harness set
